DNS Record Types

DNS Resource Record Types — records of the correspondence of the name and service information in the domain name system.
The most popular resource record types are: 

Type Description
A Address record, correspondence between name and IP address
AAAA IPv6 Address
CNAME Canonical name for an alias (one-level redirect)
DNAME Domain alias
MX The mail gateway address for the domain. It consists of two parts - priority (the larger the number, the lower the priority), and the host address. Critical to SMTP, the basis for Internet mail routing
SOA An indication of the credibility of information, used to indicate a new zone
TXT Record arbitrary binary data up to 255 bytes in size
